IMTMA: Your Perfect Training Partner

It has been more than a decade that IMTMA (Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association) has carved a niche for itself in training and making available an adequate pool of manpower that manufacturing industries require for their everyday shopfloor activities. The trainings are conducted by industry experts at IMTMA’s Technology Centres in Bengaluru, Pune and Gurugram.

These Technology Centres are closely associated with skill development initiatives. Conventionally the training programmes comprise short-term and long-term training programmes for fresh engineers and industry ready professionals through Productivity Institute and Design Institute.

Ever since the outbreak of the pandemic, IMTMA has been conducting knowledge sharing webinars and training programmes in On line mode, to keep the manufacturing industry functioning. Moreover, it has also initiated a full-fledged e-learning portal, accessible 24*7 for self-paced learning of technical subjects related to manufacturing technology. E-learning courses are available in vital subjects of manufacturing technology including GD&T, FMEA, OEE, Heat treatment, Welding, Painting, etc., enabling learning from desk at flexible timings.

Although some of the hands-on training programmes wherein participants are trained on using machines are done at its Technology Centre premises, many of these training are conducted on digital platform which overrides all geographical barriers. This has resulted in IMTMA training engineers from southern, northern, western and eastern regions of India. To facilitate this, IMTMA has enabled live video coverage of CNC machines and accessories during its online training programmes, enabling the participants to view the working of the machines and equipment.

During the financial year 2020 – 2021, IMTMA conducted a total of 335 programmes, inclusive of 220 training programmes and 89 webinars for students and industry professionals. Despite the pandemic, the association conducted 26 physical training programmes inclusive of Productivity Institute and Design Institute courses.

While 3556 delegates attended the online training programmes, a record 12,042 delegates attended the webinars, and 2873 delegates attended the physical training programmes at IMTMA technology centres. The programmes helped students as well as industry professionals to enhance knowledge and upgrade their skills.
